WAGE Founder
Shannon Whitaker is a Greensboro, NC native who moved to Washington, DC to attend Howard University. She volunteered at numerous public and public charter schools and upon graduation became an Early Childhood Education teacher. She earned a Master of Early Childhood Special Education at the University and Maryland at College Park. She has taught in public and private schools in the DC area for 14
Shannon credits her curiosity and love of education to her mother, Linda Whitaker, who is a retired preschool teacher.
She dedicates this business to her mother and peace-loving father, the late Garry Gilyard.

Through my knowledge of developmental milestones and early earning standards, I offer coaching for families with children aged 3-5 years old. This includes strategies for introducing early reading, writing, and math skills as well as the organic incorporation of science and social studies topics and methods of measuring mastery in these areas for future schooling decisions.

Gather Nurture n' Grow Cohorts
I offer drop-in, homeschool-style tutoring sessions in a mixed-age group for children ages 3-10 years old. There will be a curriculum tailored to meet each student’s needs and include the following:
- Access to trained singers and a keyboard and acoustiguitar for music lessons and exploration.
- STEAM materials and projects and hands on science experiments.
- Art Lessons from our in-house Art Specialist (Painter, Graphic Designer, Interior Designer).
- Walkability to Sport Rock Indoor Climbing and Rio Playground for recess and physical education.
- Walkability to AMC Theaters for Special Movie Days.
- Portfolio supplementation and data collection.
- Meet ups for field trips less than 30 minutes away available upon request.
- One full Saturday a month of fun and activities available upon request.
